IFM Healthcare Study Day - "Doing More For Less" - 24th February 2011
Information for Management in Healthcare (IFMH) ran a study day at Derby Hospital in February 2011:
"Doing More For Less" The study day was aimed at information professionals from the health sector and focused on "doing more for less" in the NHS. Presentations from experts in the fields focused on key initiatives such as QIPP and Quality and Improvement.
Presentations: NHS Evidence - QIPP - Kristin O'Leary, NHS Evidence Kristin O'Leary provided an overview of the Department of Health QIPP agenda. The QIPP Collection, part of NHS Evidence, provides quality-assured, real life examples of innovation in practice. Evidence-based information on Cost and Quality - Dr Mahmood Adil, NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement What is Cost and Quality? What are the information needs of those working within Cost and Quality? How can information professionals help to meet those information needs? Lean thinking and service improvement - Ray Foley, Derby Hospitals Foundation Trust What is Lean thinking? How does it work in practice? The challenges for the NHS going forward - how Lean thinking can help. Useful resources for QIPP, Cost and Quality, and service improvement - Elly O'Brien, The Royal College of Surgeons of England Elly demonstrated some key websites for each of the initiatives discussed in the study day, a resource list of further useful resources is also available. The Study Day also included an opportunity for discussion, where attendees were able to discuss what they had learned and reflect on how they might use this knowledge to support library and information service users.
