This
issue
Summer see IFMH turn
its attention to social services. We begin with a study considering
the role of practitioners in implementing a management information
system within their social services team, and round up this issue with
a management briefing on how social services departments operate, why
they are important and examples of good practice. For those of you
unfamiliar with the organization of social services, these two papers
provide a useful introduction to the subject.
Evidence Based
Librarianship
IFMH maintains it commitment to the development of our evidence based
profession by being a proud sponsor of the 3rd
International Evidence Based Librarianship conference. Held between
16th
and 19th
October 2005 in Brisbane, Australia, full details of the programme can
be found at
http://conferences.alia.org.au/ebl2005/.

c… changes
As the IFMH committee continues to expand, each quarter brings a new
face to the fore. This issue we welcome Julie-Ann Rowszkowski, East
Anglia’s Children’s Hospital (Email: Tel: 01223 815103) who has
joined the committee as an ‘ordinary member’. Julie-Ann will be
assisting the committee in taking forward a range of short-term
projects in the coming months. Welcome Julie-Ann.
If you would like to
‘dip your toe in the water’ by joining Julie-Ann in becoming an
ordinary member of the IFMH committee, an opportunity that will give
you the chance to familiar yourself with the workings of the group
before deciding if you’d like to take on a designated committee role,
please email me at or call me on 0161 295
6423.
