Know-How? Exploring the knowledge dimensions of Primary Care
Sue Lacey Bryant, Independent Information Specialist & Knowledge Manager, Vale of Aylesbury PCT. Email: laceybryant@clara.co.uk
Health Librarians all across the UK are taking steps to focus on the primary care dimension of the NHS. As Library Service Managers find out more about the information needs of Primary Care Organizations (PCOs), a number of questions arise: how well do librarians understand the knowledge dimensions of the work in primary care? how far do they want to engage with this broader agenda? how can library and information services support what needs to be done within each organization? where is the best place to site initiatives to meet the needs identified?. This paper discusses these issues and describes the author's experiences of applying knowledge management within a primary care trust.
